ACU, a Multichain Token

In preparation for the Mainnet and TGE launch, here is the full overview of everything you need to know about the different ACU tokens, compatible wallets for each type, and an overview of the chain integrations.

For more in-depth information, check out the official Acurast documentation here: https://docs.acurast.com/

ACU Token

At Mainnet and TGE, the ACU token will be released. However, be aware that there will be different types of ACU tokens circulating on different blockchains:

ACU on Acurast Mainnet

ACU is the native currency of the Acurast Mainnet, which is a Substrate-based Polkadot parachain with the parachain ID 3396. ACU is used to pay for all chain interactions on Acurast Mainnet and it’s the only token used to:

-Submit deployments

-Lock-in stakes

-Reward Staking

-Reward Benchmark Rewards

-Reward Collators

Note: ACU on Acurast Mainnet has 12 decimals.

ACU on Ethereum

The native ACU token from Acurast Mainnet can be bridged to Ethereum (and back), using the Acurast Hyperdrive bridge, which will be available on hub.acurast.com. Any ACU tokens that exist on Ethereum are fully backed 1:1 by ACU tokens, locked in the Acurast Hyperdrive bridge.

On Ethereum, ACU is an ERC20 token with 12 decimals. Participants in the Coinlist token sale will receive this token straight into their Coinlist wallets. On Ethereum the ACU token can be used as any other ERC20 token e.g. in dApps, like DEXes or other DeFi applications.

ACU on Base, Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Peaq

On these blockchains, ACU is available as an ERC20 compatible token, which is created by bridging the Ethereum token to these chains using the LayerZero bridge. Therefore, all ACU tokens that exist on one of these chains are fully backed 1:1 by an ACU token locked into the LayerZero bridge contract on Ethereum. On these chains, the ACU token can be used as any other ERC20 token e.g. in dApps, like DEXes or other DeFi applications.

In the future, additional bridges into many more ecosystems could be established. Token contracts will always be published in the official Acurast documentation: Acurast Documentation: Token.

NOTE

ACU tokens on Ethereum, Base, BSC or Peaq always need to be bridged before they can be used on Acurast Mainnet (e.g. for deployments, or staking). Likewise, ACU tokens from Acurast Mainnet always need to be bridged to be used on Ethereum etc.

WARNING: VERIFY, DON’T TRUST

Only token contracts published in the official Acurast documentation are valid ACU tokens backed by ACU on mainnet. If you interact with DEXes or other platforms, always verify the token contracts before you interact. There will be malicious actors which will deploy fake ACU token contracts and DEX pools on various chains, in order to steal other people’s funds.

Stay vigilant!

Compatible Wallets

For the native ACU token from Acurast mainnet, we recommend to use wallets which support substrate chains like SubWallet, Talisman or AirGap Wallet and Vault. These are also well suited to connect to the Acurast Hub.

For the bridged tokens on Ethereum, Base, BSC and Peaq, we recommend using battleproof EVM wallets like Metamask, Rabby or AirGap Wallet and Vault. These can also be used to interact with the Acurast hub, but (with the exception of AirGap) will not show the balance of the native Acurast Mainnet token in their wallet UIs.

For more information on compatible wallets, check out the documentation here: https://docs.acurast.com/wallets/wallet-overview
