Discord AMA Recap 17 November 2025

TGE & Mainnet Status

  • TGE Postponement: The TGE (Token Generation Event) was postponed from its original November 17th date due to the “shock condition” (a huge crash) in the broader market, which the team felt would unfairly take away “mindshare” from the launch.
  • New Launch Date: The team is “pushing hard” to launch as soon as possible, they’re “ready on the technical side,” and see no technical reason for a long delay.
  • Airdrop Snapshot: The snapshot for the Airdrop has not been taken yet.
  • Airdrop Claim: The Airdrop will be claimed once the snapshot is taken. The original claim dates will be updated soon to reflect the new launch date. The MIST to ACU conversion ratio depends on the total number of participants sharing the 10 million ACU pool.

Staking & Rewards

  • Staking Rewards: Post-TGE, staking rewards can be claimed fully per epoch, can be traded on exchanges, and will not have cool downs.
  • Staking Mechanism: The staking reward mechanism was recently updated (as of mid-November 2025) to fix issues from an initial beta version. The current version is considered “the real deal” and is expected to remain unchanged.
  • Reward Rate: Staking rewards increase linearly with the length of the cooldown period. A 2-day cooldown will give double the “weight” and double the rewards compared to a 1-day cooldown.
  • Conversion Lock vs. Staking Lock: These two locks are unrelated.
    • The Conversion Lock (eg. 3.7 years) is only for users coming from the Canary network.
    • The Staking Cooldown is for everyone and determines your reward weight.
    • If you want both locks to end at the same time, you must manually plan the timing to synchronize them.
  • Cooldown Weight: Be aware that during the staking cooldown period, your reward “weight” is halved.
  • Committer vs. Delegator: A committer sets the maximum cooldown a delegator can choose. A delegator can choose a shorter cooldown, but not a longer one.

Compute & Slashing

  • Compute Supply: There is currently a shortage of compute supply on the Acurast network. The team encourages more people to onboard devices.
  • Low Rewards Model: The reward model is “self-balancing” like Bitcoin mining. If rewards are too low and providers leave, the rewards will increase for those who stay.
  • Slashing Warning: You will be slashed if you run other applications on your device (even in the background) after establishing your benchmark score. The device must be benchmarked in the exact state it will be left in to avoid slashing.
  • Migration: Compute providers will be able to trigger a migration from https://hub.acurast.com/ to move CACU to ACU and activate their devices on the mainnet.

Wallets & Fees

  • Hardware Wallet: For high-security, long-term storage, AirGap is recommended. It is an open-source project that turns an old smartphone into a secure, self-custody wallet and is fully integrated with Acurast.
  • Fees Transaction: Users migrating from Canary will receive 1 ACU of free balance to pay for initial transaction fees and staking.
  • Fees are Burned: All transaction fees on the network are completely burned, acting as a mechanism to counter inflation.
  • Changing Wallets: You can already transfer CACU to other wallets. A feature request was submitted to allow users to change the wallet connected to their Cloud Rebellion profile.

Use Cases & Governance

  • Governance: Mainnet governance will allow token holders to control a large Community Treasury and vote on network parameters, such as reward pool weightings.
  • Block Explorer: Three different block explorers are currently running in a staging environment and will be released soon. They will cater to different user needs (viewing transactions, deploying, or onboarding compute).
