100K Phones, One Global Network — Acurast Redefines Decentralized Compute

Zug, Switzerland — July 16, 2025 — Acurast has reached a major milestone: over 100,000 smartphones are now powering the world’s most decentralized compute network. In just the past couple of months, the number of onboarded devices has doubled — up from 50,000 on March 25 to 100,000 today.

This growth — including a spike of 8,000 phones in a single day — shows that the decentralized physical infrastructure movement (DePIN) isn’t slowing down. It’s scaling fast, securely, and globally. Acurast has now handled more than 300 million transactions and completed over 25,000 secure compute deployments.

“We saw a major surge in adoption after the CoinList sale was oversubscribed, raising $5.4 million,” says Alessandro De Carli, Co-Founder of Acurast.
“That showed us how much belief there is in this vision — and when we launched
Vibe Code and Deploy shortly after, it became clear to many what this network is really capable of.”

Rethinking Compute from the ground up

Most people associate “the cloud” with corporate servers and centralized data centers. Acurast flips that script by transforming everyday smartphones — even old or damaged ones — into secure compute nodes. Thanks to built-in hardware security modules (HSMs) and their respective TEEs, these phones can handle sensitive workloads with verifiability and confidentiality.

There’s no technical barrier. No upfront cost. Anyone can contribute.

“When we started Acurast, our idea was simple: don’t rebuild the cloud from scratch — activate what already exists. Phones. Billions of them,” says De Carli. “It’s sustainable, accessible, and radically inclusive.”

More than a milestone, it’s a growing movement

The 100,000-device milestone signals more than just scale. It’s evidence of a shift: from centralized platforms to people-powered infrastructure.

A recent breakthrough came with the launch of Vibe Code and Deploy. Users can generate websites or games using a single prompt and deploy them instantly across Acurast’s network. No hosting, no setup, no friction. This made the promise of decentralized compute real, not just for developers, but for creators everywhere.

“Decentralization goes far beyond tokens — it’s fundamentally about who controls the world’s computing infrastructure,” says Alessandro De Carli, Co-Founder of Acurast.

“We already see significant clusters emerging across Europe and the Americas. Now, our next goal is to reach 250,000 phones, significantly expanding clusters in Asia and Africa. Currently, Acurast has devices active in more than 130 countries, and we’re well on our way to achieving representation in all 195 countries worldwide. This growth is real, tangible, and happening right now — not in centralized data centers, but quietly and steadily within homes, schools, and local communities everywhere.”
